Intro

I just squeezed a huge idea out of my brilliant and fertile mind and thanks to modern technology, it has already begun to grow at a cancerous pace. This blog will represent my boldest move in the blogosphere to date in that I will, for the first time, formally become my own worst enemy. I will leverage other people’s infinite malice to generate hits to all my vast internet real estate holdings. And all that happy horse product.

(I think at this point I'm supposed to throw back my head and exclaim, "Mwooa, ha, ha!")

So here's your chance to say all the horrible things you wanted to say directly to me, but have heretofore been unable, lacking a suitable medium. Personal attacks welcome. Sign up for your 30-day trial today. Visa and Master Card accepted.

  1. Pauli, why don't you have an "e" at the end of your name? I mean, really! Is it something personal about Rocky Balboa's brother-in-law? (I notice on your other site you make snide remarks about the latest Rocky flick.)

Sorry, that's the most vitriol I can work up right now. Sorry also for misspelling your name at the contracrunchy site...

  2. Andy, let me just congratulate you as the first commenter on this site. I almost beat you to it, I was so angry at myself earlier. But now I forget why....

The award for being first is -- you guessed it -- nothing. Well, almost, I'm going to add a link to your site. Yeah. So there.

You included the word "sorry" twice in your comment, so I can hardly see your "criticism" as serious enough to comment on. But I think you should complain to the wikipedia people for changing the spelling of your name.

Just don't get on my good side again or I'll banish you.

  3. All right, I'm NOT sorry. I take both of my apologies back. Now will you answer my question?

  4. I love that character. I was given the nickname back in the mid-nineties by ma homies in Pittsburgh, PA, mostly in tribute to the famous trainer. Shortly afterward that movie Paulie about the bird came out and I remember thinking "nice, I'm not spelling it THAT way."

I don't think I'm to far off to either side of the bell curve in my view on the Rocky films, i.e., the first 2 Rockies were great, the next 2 were bearable..... and I'm sure some people are right in saying the 4th was crap, but I can do cheesy and campy -- e.g., I actually liked the Lost in Space movie and Batman Forever. I never saw the 5th Rocky though. Stallone should have fought Brigette Nielson, ughhh.... great James Brown scene though, RIP.

The latest Rocky movie being promoted with Bible study materials seems to deserve at least some ridicule, I decided. I suppose I'm jumping the gun in assuming it isn't that good, but as you know with 3 kids under 5 years old you get pretty choosy about time and treasure spent on films.

  5. Now you've given me something on which to set you straight! You see, Paulie's not the name of Rocky's trainer, played by Burgess Meredith; his name's Mickey. Paulie is the somewhat boorish brother of Adrian, of "yo Adrian" fame, who by the way has bitten the proverbial dust at the start of the latest, and probably last, Rocky movie.

Keep giving me ammo like that, and readers like me will be able to use your newly-created blog for its stated purpose. Regarding your handle (Pauli without an "e"), perhaps I could also add in the eloquent words of the great Catholic apologist of our time, that "your stupid fake name is a pain in the ass, as are you!!!" There, I think I'm starting to get into the vitriolic spirit of things... Thanks for the outlet.

  6. Good, I can feel your anger. Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the DARK SIDE will be complete!

No, I'm going to have to watch Rocky again sometime.

But here's the question. Who would be best/worst/funniest at leading an Evangelical Protestant-style Bible study: Rocky, Mickey or Paulie?

  7. enough of this abuse of pauli. it's not constructive -- for something more constructive, how about a new blog discussing saints' feast days and/or news from the Vatican. we could call it
