Never mind the sequester. Obama has now taken on a new job, namely lecturing the Church on "the central message of the Gospel":
"My hope is, based on what I know about the Catholic Church and the terrific work that they've done around the world and certainly in this country, you know, helping those who are less fortunate, is that you have a pope who sustains and maintains what I consider the central message of the Gospel that we treat everybody as children of God and that we love them the way Jesus Christ taught us to love them."
P.S. As previously mentioned, I've undertaken reading An Introduction to Christianity by B16. Fascinating, and humbling about how little I knew (and how little I still know). Not to judge, but reading even a part of that work underscores how Obama ought to be embarrassed by his shallowness -- but he apparently doesn't know enough to be embarrassed. But it's part and parcel of Liberation Theology -- "the primacy of politics and economics . . . as the real powers that bring about salvation".
P.P.S. BTW, the first part of An Introduction to Christianity is an education on the meaning of "I believe" in the Creed. And, by extension, the rationale behind its change in the Mass.
The Gospel has nothing to do with what we do and everything to do with what Jesus did. But I bet President Me believes he can write his own ticket into heaven.
