Really interesting take on Obama's reluctance to release long form Birth Certificate
Here's a good Am Thinker article about Trump and his strategic request as a non-birther for President Obama to release his birth certificate. The main thrust of the piece is to show how bad the media looks in their soft handling of Obama's shady background. To me, the last three paragraphs are the most cogent and interesting:
This has important implications for the country. Questions about Obama's family and his relationship to Islam, for example, and hence his world view, remain subjects of speculation. Former CIA officer Larry Johnson, for example, believes that the full birth record from the State of Hawaii was probably amended in 1968 to show Obama was adopted by his step father, the Indonesian Muslim Lolo Soetoro, that he became formally known for a time as "Barry Soetoro," and may even have his religion listed as Muslim. This would completely change what Obama has said about his past and represent a public fraud of a very significant magnitude.
At the very least the full record might help explain Obama's strange discomfort with exercising American power against radical Muslim regimes in Libya and elsewhere, where he has farmed out the defense of American interests to the United Nations, and his insistence on "dialogue" with rogue Muslim regimes in Syria and Iran. All of this while touting the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and Al Qaeda associated Muslim opposition groups in Libya as democracy craving freedom fighters.
Some of the missing details of Obama's life are doubtlessly trivial. Obama probably has benign explanations for not providing more information about them. Even Trump admits that the evidence strongly suggests Obama was born in Hawaii and is an American citizen. But that Obama has not yet released this information, and that the media refuses to criticize him for not doing so, is a testament not to the insanity of the "birthers," but to Obama's penchant for secrecy, and the dangerous amount of latitude the media has been willing to cede him.
Trump is no dummy. I don't think he walked out on this limb without already knowing (from his own investigators) that there is something to be found out. He hinted as much in his interview with (the unlikeable and unwatchable) Meredith Viera of the Today show.
ReplyDeleteHe's clearly hiding something, though most reasonable speculations would assume it is all but certain that he was born in Hawaii, and is thus constitutionally eligible. The top four theories of what might reallybe in the long form, as far as I can tell are these (two are just personally embarrassing, while the last two might involve some real issues):
ReplyDeleteFirst (and to my mind the likeliest) -- it will reveal what most people already have figured out: Barack Obama Sr. and Stanley Ann Dunham were never actually married, let alone licitly (even a presumptive wedding would have been invalid as bigamous).
Second -- there has been some speculation that BO Sr. might not have been the actual father. One alternative candidate in particular has been discussed in various parts of the net, but even if we saw the long form, this will probably stay graffiti on the bathroom wall of history forever.
Either of these theories involve personal shame for Obama, but if true, he should get over it as the painful price for putting birther theories to bed for good. The last two plausible theories are more problematic, however:
Third -- some are suggesting that the HI long form prior to 1963 had a line for the child's religion. If that is so, you, and I, and everyone reading this blog knows what that will say. Big deal, you say; this is America after all, where someone can forge their own identity, and changing your beliefs is your inalienable right. However, adherents of this particular religion, particularly outside the US do not see it this way: apostasy is punishable by death, and even if 99% of them would not act on this, the 1% of them that might is still several millions strong. Best not to make them angry by letting them believe it is true.
Fourth, a wild card -- the long form contains nothing out of sorts at all. But Team Obama is invested in keeping birther conspiracy focus on 1961 events as a colossal sleight of hand to divert any real focus on the 1980s: it is just possible that Obama *claimed* foreign birth in his application to Columbia (and maybe even his HLS one as well). In an ironic twist, shutting up the birthers would open up an accusation of fraud--the two schools obviously have no interest in revealing something like this about their most famous alum.
Trump mentioned last week "You wouldn't believe the things we've found already", referring to work by his own investigators. That would lead me away from Man From K's theory #4.
ReplyDeleteUnless Obama is hyper-thin-skinned (I know, he is hyper-thin-skinned), I'd think theories #1 and #2 would be no big deal to anyone in this day and age.
So I'm going with #3, unless he actually was not born in USA.
I'm all in on number 3. I think he was born here--Trump does to. I personally can't stand birthers, but I am begrudgingly forced to admit that they probably have done a service calling attention to the issue if Trump is able to make something of the issue. So far I'm impressed by Trump and would vote for him over Tim Pawlenty.
ReplyDeleteOther people that claim to be familiar with the HI long form BC have said there has never been a space for religion.
ReplyDeleteOne other explanation is that his name was changed on the BC to Barry Soetero when he was adopted, and it never got changed back.
Looks like Man From K's Option #4 is the winner.
ReplyDeleteProps to Trump though. He got Obama to dance (gracelessly) to his tune on his schedule, yet still leaves us wondering whether Obama is telling the truth.
Yes, I guess I was wrong. Oh well. Glad it's settled.
ReplyDeleteThere is a story that Obama told a Marine named Race Bannon that he was born in Kenya, but the story is really iffy, IMO. It was "broken" on FreeRepublic back at the end of 2009. I can imagine the guy lying easily to make a point. He lied about where/when he met his wife, i.e., told 2 conflicting stories about it. He's not a truthful person. "You can keep your health insurance plan." Yeah, right.
"Race Bannon" is obviously a pseudonym--I thought it sounded familiar. That was the dude from the Johnny Quest cartoon.
