White Liberals Parrot Talking Poiints
This is a few years old, but still applies to the current situation in our society. White liberals are taught that we need to be extra conscious of how hard black people have it. Except they don't know any real black people.
Requiring identification in order to vote should be a no-brainer to help prevent voter fraud. And someday it will be, I'm sure. As real white racism continues to recede into America's past, the argument that voter ID laws discriminate against blacks will eventually cease to be convincing. A small minority will continue to pretend it's true. As always.

Open Comment Thread (2016-07)
Here's a new open comment thread you all, my friends! Speaking of friends....
Stop the madness, or proceed with the madness, or go halfway or maybe two thirds... Or, how about do 3 sets of 12 madness lifts twice a day. Or maybe have a madness shake with some kale and blue berries? Or something.
I was thinking that maybe a good topic to discuss here is frenetic, undisciplined migrations to nearby towns and whether that is a conservative value. Or maybe moving because no one understands you or sour cream vandalism going on that you can no longer protect your family from. This might be a good post to review for starters as well.

Donald Trump answers the question: What is 2 + 2?
I got this from Facebook, a guy named Steven Edwards posted it. I don't know what the origin is. I find it hilarious.
I have to say a lot of people have been asking this question. No, really. A lot of people come up to me and they ask me. They say, "What's 2+2"? And I tell them look, we know what 2+2 is. We've had almost eight years of the worst kind of math you can imagine. Oh my God, I can't believe it. Addition and subtraction of the 1s the 2s and the 3s. Its terrible. Its just terrible. Look, if you want to know what 2+2 is, do you want to know what 2+2 is? I'll tell you. First of all the number 2, by the way I love the number 2. It's probably my favorite number, no it is my favorite number. You know what, it's probably more like the number two but with a lot of zeros behind it. A lot. If I'm being honest, I mean, if I'm being honest. I like a lot of zeros. Except for Marco Rubio, now he's a zero that I don't like. Though, I probably shouldn't say that. He's a nice guy but he's like, "10101000101", on and on, like that. He's like a computer! You know what I mean? He's like a computer. I don't know. I mean, you know. So, we have all these numbers and we can add them and subtract them and add them. TIMES them even. Did you know that? We can times them OR divide them, they don't tell you that, and I'll tell you, no one is better at the order of operations than me. That I can tell you. So, we're gonna be the best on 2+2, believe me. Ok? All right. Thank you.
I heard him give a speech in Maine the other day and he mentioned Ohio in passing and threw a lot of the same kind of meaningless verbiage into it. Something like "We're going to do great in Ohio. By the way, I love Ohio. Ohio is one of my favorites; there's a lot I love about Ohio. Ohio has always been great and the people there are great." Blah, blah, blah, no particulars at all. We think Ohio is great, but tell us why you like it. Why do you like Ohio, Mr. Trump? You don't know and you don't care. At least that's how you come across. At least ask your campaign aids to dig up a fun fact about Ohio and throw it out there, but you don't even do that.
I guess he thinks completely unprepared speeches are as good as any. Maybe he's right, and that is a scary idea to me. Maybe he's a blank white board onto which everyone projects their own hero. I haven't the faintest idea why he has so much support among smart people.
The following one is from David Alexander.

Suddenly...
A lot of people in the world of iTunes have (re-)discovered the Beatles since their music, originally recorded in a studio named Apple Records, is now finally available on Apple's music service.
Now their is a bombardment of playlists of the Beatles Most Psychedelic Songs, The Beatles Evolution, The Best Beatles Songs to Cook By, Beatles Songs for your next Garden Party, Beatles Songs to Make Baby Smart, etc. Neat.
The thing is that if you are wildly successful you can produce some pretty awful stuff, and it gets released because, well, after all you're the Beatles or "Paul and the boys were having a laugh" or "John was high" or "Wow, they're pushing the boundaries!", etc. Yes, but it's still awful.
I will also include little known Beatles covers by people who obviously thought if they performed a popular song by a popular band it would be GREAT. I remember how difficult it was to maintain my poker face back in my band days when someone spoke in awe of a local band who could "cover the Beatles AND Pink Floyd". OK, sure, man.... The fact is these guys wrote songs, and good musicians can play them and they will sound good if they are good songs. (For instance...) In other words, if they are not the songs on my list. Again—the claim that "awe, you can tell he/she/they was/were joking" will be summarily dismissed.
Love that analog delay and reverb, man.
Maybe I will do a Worst of Pink Floyd playlist sometime. But I don't know if there's a time limit on playlists. I might have to get out the editing software and do one called First 45 seconds of the Worst Pink Floyd Songs.

Last Minute Christmas Present Ideas
Here are some last-minute Christmas gift ideas. But please don't mistake these for good ideas, OK? Except maybe the second one, and you can get me two of them if you must. His and hers, you know.
First up is Ye Olde Plastic Potato Pellet Gun. It's my son's birthday today, and I got him one of these suckers. They really work, and the pellets don't hurt too bad. Just don't shoot you eye out, OK?
Also here's an idea if you want to buy me something. The 2016 Nissan Maxima has a sport setting to aid me in my midlife crisis. In case I have one.
Last but not least, here's something you can get from Five Below for that special someone who wants to appear smarter than they are. Or for nerd costumes.
I mean, $2 to look like the smartest guy you know? Can't beat that.

"I was stunned."
I was stunned. But then I was struck by a thought that was even more devastating. What if it wasn't an exact copy of us but instead we were an exact copy of it? The possibilities were fantastic! What were we like, I wondered. Were we warlike? Did we look like humans?
So it was with great disappointment that I realized I had been aiming the telescope at a picture of Earth on the wall. I had been right after all: it was a duplicate of Earth. And yet it wasn't a planet. I sat back in my chair stunned.
Oh, man... too funny. Read it; you'll use this one, I promise: "What in the name of a supreme being exactly like God was going on here?"

Space Buns?
Always wondered what the proper name of that hairstyle was.
This will really make you think of what it's like to be a space princess in Manhattan. A female space princess, I mean.
I hope this makes male persons of color and non-color reconsider their horrible treatment of space females. I know Lando is a person of color, but so is Yoda. Darth Vader is not a person of color, but he is black and is... challenged. I think.

Bookworm reviews a review from George P. Wood of Springfield, MO
Reviews of reviews are all the rage these days, and all the cool kidz are doing it. So it is satisfying to read a review of a review of Rod Dreher's new book which is itself a massive review of Dante's famous work, The Divine Comedy which, I should say, I highly recommend reading for those with immortal souls.
Reviews, reviews, out the wazoos....
(OK, here's the review, without further ado.)
George P. Wood of Springfield, MO reviewed Rod's book on Amazon and explains to everybody what the problem was. George is a pretty impressive guy with some impressive degrees and obviously knows a lot about a lot of things.
[Link to review from George P. Wood of Springfield, MO]
"The problem was that Dreher had left Starhill for a reason: The inability of his family—especially his father, but even Ruthie herself—to understand any way that wasn’t their way."
See, that's the problem with folks around here, and George P. Wood of Springfield, MO knows it. Just close minded people. It wasn't Rod. George P. Wood of Springfield, MO just explained to the world why it wasn't.
And so when Rod came back, believe it or not folks were still that way. Unable to understand any way that wasn't their way, especially Rod's way. And that flaw in them made Rod physically sick.
Folks just can't get any lower or meaner than that, making other people physically sick by being unable to understand any way that isn’t their way.
“Well,” his rheumatologist told him,“you have a choice. Leave Louisiana, or resign yourself to destroying your health."
"Dreher felt that wasn’t a choice. There must be a way to stay put and find inner peace."
And sure enough there was. Write another book about how folks around here make other people physically sick by being unable to understand any way that isn’t their way. You heard it from George P. Wood of Springfield, MO himself, and so did the rest of the world.
I admit that on many occasions in the past I've been enraged by Rod Dreher. But this fellow Bookworm provides a great example of why I'm no longer angered by him. Everyone save a few weirdos is onto him at this point. He has sunk so low that he has had to invent academic sock puppets to encourage him and to beg him to write books and so forth. His publisher is basically an opportunistic soft-core peddler who made sure there was T&A on his book cover. He has blamed his poor health on people not liking him. He has clung bitterly to this Bunker Option thing even though it has proven to be nothing more than raving. He deplores our plastic disposable hedonistic society and then commits selfie-abuse amid piles of restaurant food.
No one I care about is giving this guy any respect anymore, and that's the way it should be. I just loaded that ridiculous pic into How Old -- here's the result:
When robots think you look like a 49-year-old woman it's time to pull a makeover or put the camera away. Or both, dude.

"Sad Little Bunch"
Recently the term Sad Little Bunch was thrown at us — well, at people who fit the description "Dreher anti-fans who seethe at everything he writes" — so I guess that's how some people would characterize some of us.
Someone else brought up this bit on Saturday and I remember thinking "Yeah — another Sad Little Bunch!" It's funny; check it out:
Resumes of Apostles
To: Jesus, Son of Joseph
Woodcrafter’s Carpenter Shop
Nazareth 25922From: Jordan Management ConsultantsDear Sir:Thank you for submitting the resumes of the twelve men you have picked for managerial positions in your new organization. All of them have now taken our battery of tests; and we have not only run the results through our computer, but also arranged personal interviews for each of them with our psychologist and vocational aptitude consultant. The profiles of all tests are included, and you will want to study each of them carefully.
As part of our service, we make some general comments for your guidance, much as an auditor will include some general statements. This is given as a result of staff consultation, and comes without any additional fee.It is the staff opinion that most of your nominees are lacking in background, education and vocational aptitude for the type of enterprise you are undertaking. They do not have the team concept. We would recommend that you continue your search for persons of experience in managerial ability and proven capability.Simon Peter is emotionally unstable and given to fits of temper. Andrew has absolutely no qualities of leadership. The two brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, place personal interest above company loyalty. Thomas demonstrates a questioning attitude that would tend to undermine morale. We feel that it is our duty to tell you that Matthew had been blacklisted by the Greater Jerusalem Better Business Bureau; James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus definitely have radical leanings, and they both registered a high score on the manic-depressive scale. One of the candidates, however, shows great potential. He is a man of ability and resourcefulness, meets people well, has a keen business mind, and has contacts in high places. He is highly motivated, ambitious, and responsible. We recommend Judas Iscariot as your controller and right-hand man. All of the other profiles are self-explanatory.We wish you every success in your new venture.Sincerely,Jordan Management Consultants
Classic.

Belated Deep Thought
Here's the obligatory yet belated Deep Thought suggested to Pauli by the Obama Jihadi/Crusader one-of-these-things-is-not-like-the-other fail from a week or so back:
To me, boxing is like a ballet, except there's no music, no choreography, and the dancers hit each other.
Perfecto!

The Writings of Sistah Raccoon
I have completed the recovery of The Writings of Sistah Raccoon so you may read them once again. No one was killed by those offended by the Topix post, thank God, but it does put me in mind of my Charlie Hebdo post because now it's possible that more people will become familiar with this new ingenious pillorying of Rod Dreher's TAC blog posts than had been before.
There was another bit of good stuff on the disappeared post. Countrylad stated this in defense of our continuing criticism:
Pauli clearly has a bone to pick with Rod and is relentless in pursuing it.
Both Sistah Raccoon and Pauli have a right to say whatever they want on here, as do you. You have the same privilege with regard to their posts as you do to the daily newspaper - If you don't like what they have to say, you don't have to read it.
I responded:
Yes, you are correct. Rod Dreher and I actually have a lot of things in common. We were both born in the same year so we grew up with a lot of the same TV shows. We both grew up in small towns, went to college, became more conservative after college and converted to the Catholic faith in the nineties.
Rod Dreher has many bones to pick and he has been relentless over the years in pursuing these. One is the Catholic Church, one is mainstream conservatives — or what he has called the "mongoloid right" — and one is the way normal people in American life view everyday life, food and architecture.
The internet not only helps you find something you like, it also helps you find things you detest. Thus I have found Rod, a person who is almost a mirror image of myself — amazingly alike in some ways, drastically different in others. I used to read his blog every day, but over the years I have it less and less because other kindred spirits have found my blog and have done a lot of the research for me, emailing me passages which they know will arouse my ire as it has theirs. But now I probably only react on my blog to these around 1 out of every 5 times, if that.
I have always taken the approach that the best treatment of speech or writing which you believe represents bad ideas is good ideas communicated in speech and writing, correcting what you think is wrong with the other. The exchange allows people to read each and decide.
Sometimes this comes in the way of clownish parodies and ridicule. It is probably the case that I have resorted to these methods too often and, if so, it has no doubt weakened the strength of my own arguments. Insofar as they have affected Rod Dreher at all, the few people who read my amateur copy may be more critical of his ideas when they read them. I have no idea what Mr. Dreher thinks about me or if he thinks about me at all. But certainly no real harm comes to him from anything my friends and I write. It has been reported that hits from his articles and blog posts on the American Conservative are really what keeps the website afloat, so it should be noted that he has both fans and job security galore.
I am highly amused that this post was removed from Topix and I am somewhat curious about the details. It is possible that someone complained that Sistah Raccoon's writings are racist. That might have been the magic word used for the why of the banning. But I'm more interested in the who. Dante book publishing company? Wick Allison? Bueller?

What was my emergency again?
Many of you no doubt have seen this famous quote on signs, mugs, t-shirts, etc.
There's is a qualified and highly more accurate quote based on this one which I found in this wise man's forum signature:
Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part...unless you're my manager...or a director and above...or a really loud-spoken end-user..All right - what was my emergency again?
Like Dylan said...
