Great Year So Far For Green Monster

No; not this guy. From Patterico:

New York Times:

Americans are broadly concerned about inequality of wealth and income despite an economy that has improved by most measures, a sentiment that is already driving the 2016 presidential contest, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll.

The poll found that a strong majority say that wealth should be more evenly divided and that it is a problem that should be addressed urgently. Nearly six in 10 Americans said government should do more to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor, but they split sharply along partisan lines. Only one-third of Republicans supported a more active government role, versus eight in 10 of Democrats.

Polls and studies have also shown marked increases among Americans in wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, and gluttony.

Yup. But the greatest of these is envy. Because it works best to get Dems to the voting booth.

Obama sinking further in the polls

A new poll reveals a serious erosion of support. From the article:

“Whether it’s [Vladimir] Putin, Ukraine, the VA hospitals, Bowe Bergdahl, the events have controlled Obama, rather than Obama having controlled the events,” Hart adds. “He may be winning the issues debate, but he’s losing the political debate, because they don’t see him as a leader.”

...

But it shows an American public that has grown dissatisfied with President Obama on foreign policy and national security decisions.

Just 37 percent approve of his handling of foreign policy, which is an all-time low in the survey, while 57 percent disapprove, an all-time high.

What’s more, by a 44 percent-to-30 percent margin, Americans disagree with the Obama administration’s decision to secure the release of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in exchange for five imprisoned Taliban fighters.

...

President Obama’s overall approval rating in the poll is at 41 percent, down three points from April. That’s tied for his all-time low in the survey.

And his favorable-unfavorable rating is upside down (41 percent-45 percent) after being right-side up two months ago (44 percent-41 percent).

Perhaps most troubling for the president, 54 percent think he is unable to lead the country and get the job done, compared with 42 percent who believe he can.

Is the press finally going to grow a spine and stop propping up this loser? Let's hope so. I think the approval numbers would be more like 12% if people really had all the info.

New Florida Poll

A new poll taken in Florida shows that most people agree with the Zimmerman verdict. It also shows that most people believe that race relations have deteriorated over the last 5 years.

Also intriguing was Question #5, which read, “In your opinion, have race relations in the United States gotten better or worse since Barack Obama took office almost 5 years ago, or have they stayed about the same?” Fifty-three percent answered that race relations have deteriorated since Obama’s inauguration, with only 10 percent saying they’ve improved.

This disappointing perception is not limited to Florida. When Obama first took office, Americans were overwhelmingly optimistic about bridging the country’s racial divide. A Gallup poll taken the day after Obama secured the presidency in 2008 showed that 70 percent of Americans believed race relations would improve. But, two years later, these expectations had a stark meeting with reality when only 48 percent of blacks and 31 percent of whites said relations had positively progressed.

As the author, Cortney O'Brien, points out, Obama can't be entirely blamed for race problems. But his reactions to incidents with racial elements show that he like to focus on those elements. And since he benefits from the existence of crises, he will continue to inflame racial divisions in order to gain more political power. It's sick and sad.

Romney ahead by 2 points in latest Gallup

Pretty amazing to me. This guy, Mitt Romney, has been getting beaten up for the last 3 or 4 months. And he is still ahead of Obama by 6 points among independents.

Note that Warren Buffett was not included in this presidential poll.

Obama Losing the All-powerful Independents

Oh, well... My opinion: if he decides to take a page from the first black president, he may win re-election. Excerpts:

Obama's approval rating in April 12-14 polling is down most among independents when compared with his 2011 average to date as well as his term average among this group. Currently, 35% of independents approve of the president, nine points off his average from independents this year. Democrats' current ratings are also below what he has averaged thus far in 2011 (down four points), while Republicans' are the same.
...
President Obama is now as unpopular as he has been at any time since he became president. He faces difficult challenges ahead in trying to improve the economy and get the federal budget deficit under control, and must do so with Republicans in control of the House. His ability to navigate these challenges will help determine whether he will be elected to a second term as president. Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton all were similarly unpopular at this stage of their presidencies, but the last two were able to turn things around in time to win a second term in office.

New low for the bro

From the latest Quinnipiac poll:

"A new Quinnipiac national survey shows the public evenly split on President Obama's job approval rating. The 45% job approval is his lowest to date in the Quinnipiac poll, and his 45% disapproval rating is his highest.

...

The public is equally split at 45/45 on the question of whether President Obama's first year in office was "mainly" a success or a failure. Among the crucial group of registered Independents, 40% view Obama's first year as a success while 47% view it as a failure."

How's that hope and change working out for you? I think at this point all 40 ounces are gone.

Wilder Lower Wolves

Newsmax reports that Sarah Palin has recovered from her earlier popularity dip.

Riding a wave of positive publicity from her book tour, Sarah Palin's favorable rating has crept within just 1 percent of President Barack Obama's job approval rating, according to the latest polls by CNN and USA Today/Gallup.

The results suggest Palin has fixed the dent in her popularity ratings created this summer when she announced she was stepping down as governor of Alaska.

According to a CNN poll released Monday, 46 percent of voters now say they like Palin. That's the same level of popularity she enjoyed before she resigned the Alaska governorship.

I was in a client office yesterday and I heard a bunch co-workers discussing late night hosts. Who did they like best, Conan, Leno, etc. Letterman's name came up and this dude said "He's dead to me because of the way he treated Palin and McCain and threw softballs to Obama." Everybody nodded in approval and I suppressed a huge grin.

The reason for my grin's hugeness? I've known these people for years. One of them for 12 years, another for about 7, etc. They are neither wild-eyed conservatives nor knee-jerk liberals. They are mid-westerners and members of the silent majority in the independent political middle. Sarah Palin has the kind of popular appeal among these people that some of the uber-intellects of the right don't grasp, but the more pragmatic wolves on the left can smell from miles away, hence the fear and loathing.

Oh, sure, they hate her views. But go up to the wolves and shout "Mike Huckabee!" and you'll get no baring of the teeth even though he comes down in the same place as Palin on social issues. These animals fear power, and she has got it. To be truthful, I don't see why she doesn't retire from politics and make millions of dollars writing books, maybe doing a Paul Harvey style news and comment, show up on the news shows every once and a while to point out what an ass-clown Obama is. Making all the female news sluts look ugly just by showing up would be an added bonus.

But if she runs for office, I'm behind her all the way.

New approval rating low

Big chief's numbers at record low. Excerpt:

President Barack Obama's job approval rating has dipped below 50 percent nationally for the first time, as Americans worry about the war in Afghanistan, a new poll released Wednesday found.

The Quinnipiac University poll showed 48 percent of Americans approve of the way Obama is handling his job as president, compared to 42 percent who disapprove.

The president also scored low marks from Americans on his handling of the situation in Afghanistan, with just 38 percent saying they approved of his approach, but a majority did say it was the "right thing" for US troops to be in the country.

Maybe Obama should pose in running shorts. But not bowing in the shorts, thanks.

Abortion Support Drops

Reuter's reports on the dip in support for abortion rights. Excerpt:

The findings by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center come as the polarizing issue has been injected in the debate around reforming health care, which is Obama's top domestic priority.

In polls in 2007 and 2008, supporters of legal abortion clearly outnumbered opponents. "Now ... there have been modest increases in the numbers who favor reducing abortions or making them harder to obtain," the organization said.

In 2007 and 2008 Pew found that supporters of abortion rights outnumbered those saying it should be illegal in most or all cases by 54 to 40 percent.

This year, two surveys of 5,500 adults found 47 percent supporting legal abortion with 44 percent opposed.

I chuckled at the earlier point the Obama's election "has reassured Democrats that abortion rights are secure." It's worth noting that everybody from Ponnuru to Reuter's assumes that the Democrats are the abortion people.

Of course, I wish we could for once properly identify the group who benefits from "abortion rights" the most, i.e., dudes who bang chicks, knock 'em up, then obtain legal abortions for them. ("Whew... that was a close one, dude!") Whenever you hear people spouting nonsense like "Oh, all you want to do is criminalize women who get abortions," point out that the much celebrated liberated women are not the only ones who would be "criminalized" were abortion illegal in certain states. So would the men pressuring the confused women to obtain an illegal procedure. Say "I want to criminalize the men responsible," and watch their jaws shut, at least momentarily. Yes, a man is required to make a baby, Mr. Know-it-all.

Media Ratings in the Crapper

Pew Reports that Americans think the news media is a joke.

The public’s assessment of the accuracy of news stories is now at its lowest level in more than two decades of Pew Research surveys, and Americans’ views of media bias and independence now match previous lows.

Just 29% of Americans say that news organizations generally get the facts straight, while 63% say that news stories are often inaccurate. In the initial survey in this series about the news media’s performance in 1985, 55% said news stories were accurate while 34% said they were inaccurate. That percentage had fallen sharply by the late 1990s and has remained low over the last decade.

Similarly, only about a quarter (26%) now say that news organizations are careful that their reporting is not politically biased, compared with 60% who say news organizations are politically biased. And the percentages saying that news organizations are independent of powerful people and organizations (20%) or are willing to admit their mistakes (21%) now also match all-time lows.

I don't know why they don't boost their ratings with stuff like this:

Plenty of skin and great copy containing words like "prostitute", "pimp" and killer lines like "sex is like dancing". Plus it's a good in depth look into our current President's background. Then there are all the controversial angles, like black women promoting "white slavery". I think they call that reparations if I'm not wrong.

Hat tip Get Liberty.

70% of American People Don't Think like Obama

Great new Rasmussen poll out. From the Associated Content site:

Rasmussen conducted a poll asking Americans on whether they would prefer a:

a) Government that would provide fewer services, imposing lower taxes OR
b) Government that provides more services, imposing higher taxes

The results of the poll revealed that 70% of likely voters favor a Government that offers fewer services, imposing lower taxes. 88% of registered republicans polled shared this view. 78% of Independents shared this view. And surprisingly 48% of Democrats shared this view.

I just wish these people would have voted with this in mind. Yes, I know that McCain could have done a better job revealing Obama's big government tendencies. But remember this little poll? John Ziegler revealed that many Americans who voted for Obama thought the Republicans were in control of the House. So they didn't even realize that putting Obama in the Whitehouse would be a vote for one-party control, not gridlock.

It's all a shame, but we'll keep fighting.

Obama Hits Record Low in Recent Zogby Poll

Newsmax has the story.

President Barack Obama's popularity has plummeted to a record low, with just 45 percent of voters now approving of his performance, according to the latest Zogby International poll.

Asked whether they approve or disapprove of the president's job performance, just 45.3 percent of likely voters say they approve. That compares with 50.5 percent who disapprove of the job Obama is doing.

The results are a strong indication that contentious national debate over healthcare reform has taken a major toll on the president's popularity.

Those numbers also indicate that Obama clearly is in serious political trouble, Fox News analyst and best-selling author Dick Morris tells Newsmax.
among likely voters . . . he is in deep political trouble."

"As soon as Obama dropped below 52 percent . . . he was leaking real voters who had backed him in November," Morris tells Newsmax. "Now that he is down to 45 percent among likely voters . . . he is in deep political trouble."

I was interested in some remarks made by John Zogby about Walmart shoppers and investors. These are two of the poll questions he always asks in his online polls. I take these polls, probably once a month or so mainly out of curiosity. Then aren't as accurate as the old-fashioned cold-call telephone, but I guess he asks the same types of qualifying questions. Other standard group-identity questions include one about whether you are a Nascar fan and how frequently you attend religious services.

Polls suggest Obama "should take a pain pill"

Rasmussen Reports: Obama approval index is now -8. Man, that has got to hurt the big guy. All he has to do for a nice bounce is get off his crack'ead health care government takeover plan and say "we're gonna work for the kind of reform that benefits all Americans" but really mean it. I'm not sure he's ever done that, but he should give it a spin, methinks.

No hanging chads

Eleven of you voted in the poll I announced earlier and decided once and for all the size of my huge, throbbing readership. The results are in... it's "Over 20, not including Pikkumatti who is a Pokemon character" in a landslide of Carterian proportions. I realize that some of you didn't vote because you didn't want to engage in "consequentialism on parade" or give in to any other temptations to immoral or unseemly behavior. That's OK. The fact that so many of you are reading this now is quite adequate to support the corners of the devilish grin affixed to my visage.

New poll: "How many people read Est Quod Est?"

Due to this recent comment, I figured it was high time to set the record straight on how many readers I have.

And just how would I accomplish this, pray tell? Would I look at how many web visits I get per day? Or how many unique visitors I receive? No, of course not. I will take a reader poll. And this is how it will work. Suppose one hundred readers voted, and say that 10 readers voted for "20 or more", 30 readers voted for "Zero", 40 readers said "Five or six" and 20 readers said "10 or more". Then the answer would be settled: Pauli has five or six readers.

This is the best way I know to find out how many readers I truly have, but I don't claim that there might be some possible margin of error.

So as they say in Chicago, "yous guys vote early and vote often."

Dirty "Secret"

Interesting poll on attitudes toward abortion. Here's a telling part:

Additionally, the data showed that since October nearly every demographic sub-group had moved toward the pro-life position except for non-practicing Catholics and men under 45 years of age.

The feminists should be honest and admit that men are the real beneficiaries behind abortion. Abortion means empowerment for men who want to be able to screw without consequences. Reminds me of that great quote from Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries: "It's not good for women to go through the procedure [abortion] and have something living sucked out of their bodies. It belittles women.... every time a woman has an abortion, it just crushes her self-esteem smaller and smaller and smaller."

Men over 45 are probably more likely to have daughters of childbearing age. That experience might change an attitude or two.
