Mixed nuts and metaphors

One thing that is funny to me about Reverend Jackson's remarks is... huh, huh... he said "nuts", huh, huh.

The other main thing that I'm laughing about is that if you take another slang meaning of the word nuts, i.e., crazy people with whom the Chicago politician has been associated, Obama could say, "Hey, leave me alone, I'm trying to cut my nuts out, too." Nuts like Reverend Wright, his wife who seems to be on heavy tranquilizers, and all those peace nuts who are going nuts about Obama change of policy regarding Iraq to... something different, no one is really sure now... but it's obviously not a Change They Can Believe In. These are the kind of nuts that no one wants in a general election. They don't give a candidate any potency like the other kind of nuts.

Of course, it would have been much nastier if Rev. Jackson had said he wanted to unplug Obama's teleprompter. Now that would be political castration whether he ever makes it to the center this year or not.

  1. Pauli, let's be honest. Jesse Jackass is a venal, self-absorbed, jealous man who envies Barack Obama's position more than anyone would want to admit. He badly wants to be Obama and he knows that he's old news -- and getting older by the second. So he figures to cut him down a peg or two to assuage his own ego.

The fact that a man with such experience in the public eye as Rev. Jackass pulls this rubbish with seemingly little regard for the consequences is quite telling, obviously. Rev. Jackass knows he's irrelevant and he's doing everything he can not to go gentle into that good night, as it were -- and he doesn't care whom he takes down with him.

It's always been about Rev. Jackass, not about God, the poor, the black, the downtrodden or anybody else. He just uses those people for his own advancement.

I have it on good authority that Ladbrookes is putting the odds of Rev. Jackass going to Hell at about 1-6.

  2. Joseph, you can choose the high-road of honesty, but I will choose the low-road of crudeness and humor in the case of Jesse Jackass. But of course, I agree with you.

I forget -- did his mistress have a boy or girl? Can you imagine being that poor kid? "That's your scumbag dad, Junior." Time for a suicide watch when he/she hits the teen years.

Out of curiosity, Joseph, what do you think of Shelby Steele's analysis of these two? In his mind, Obama is a "bargainer" while Jackson, I believe, is what Steele terms a "challenger". Here's a piece about it. It seems to me like he called it spot on regarding this primary difference between Jackson/Obama and this episode, disregarding the "nuts" bit, is yet another bit of proof for it.
