"I stand up next to a mountain..."

"...and I chop it down with the edge of my hand."

Say that again....

Actually I was checking out some of his work on Let's Dance when I found this. Cat People in particular rocks. I can't get the SRV sound out of my head, and dat be a good ting, dog.

  1. The question isn't what's his best, the question is how much time do you have to listen?

  2. my husband's friend is like 46 now, and it seems like people that age had, during their college years, all these sick opportunities to see huge acts in tiny venues before they exploded. (my sister's friend saw U2 in a tiny bar in albany). ANYWAY, my husband's friend saw SRV with 3 other people in a lunchtime concert in the college cafeteria. he bought SRV a beer while he was playing and in return got a dedicated guitar solo like 6 inches from his face.

  3. When I was a college freshman, I couldn't get anyone to go to a U2 concert at a little theater just outside Philadelphia.

When I was a college senior, I couldn't get a ticket to the U2 concert at a stadium in Philadelphia. (Several of the friends who wouldn't go three years earlier did have tickets.)

On the other hand, I'm going to see Dr. John at a tiny venue in DC, at a cost much less (as a fraction of cash on hand) than that first U2 concert would have been, and I might not have gone to see him at a free concert back in the day. So you never know.
