I've learned it doesn't pay off to try to be brilliant and expect anyone will notice. Accidental brilliance is really the only kind humans can attain; only God's brilliance has any real substance.
Brilliant because it points out the motivation of Larry David to stage this in the first place. It isn't like it is common to have pictures of Christ within splash distance of a toilet, and that this is a funny take on that. Instead, Larry David had to contrive this "situation" in order to get his urine on the picture.
IOW, it seems he started first with the premise of his urine as Christ's tears, and then figured out a way to make it happen.
Pauli thus points out this sickness with this simple poll. Or so it seems to me.
L David did another contrived stab at Christians where he accidentally eats sugar cookies that were supposed to be Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the Wise Men, etc. the deal was nobody was suppose to eat them until Christmas. I saw it on youtube looking for this incident. The laugh line in that was something like he thought baby Jesus was a monkey.
Nobody I know--Catholics, Protestants, etc--makes Jesus cookies. I wouldn't rule it out, but it's a stretch, just like the huge picture in the bathroom.
The amazing thing to me is how everyone talks about how extemporaneous he is. Huh? Yeah, I'll bet they think pro wrestling is real, too.
"It is not our part here to take thought only for a season, or for a few lives of Men, or for a passing age of the world. We should seek a final end of this menace, even if we do not hope to make one." — Gandalf the Wizard, The Fellowship of the Ring
Your most brilliant post ever, Pauli. In all seriousness. I'll try to remember to elaborate after the poll is over.

ReplyDeleteSo yeah, I'll remind you to explain.
Do book jackets count?
