Welcome to Newspeak

Start the day off with a smile and a LOL. This is a riot unless you take Vox Nova seriously.

Hat tip goes to The American Catholic.

  1. That's terrific! I was unaware of Vox Nova before now, so I went to check it out. Yikes.

First I see that we've got Marx, Simon Bolivar, and my boy Bono in the photo banner. OK, I guess. Then I check on their "purpose" link and there is a long-winded statement on how they are non-partisan.

And then I read this post and its comments , and the video Pauli posted makes perfect sense.

  2. very nice.

and I looove the Vox Nova post on Michael Jackson, healer of wounds: "Similarly, when we returned to the West [from East Germany] through Austria, the guard stationed there responded to my question by first placing his machine gun on the ground. Then he grabbed my closest hand with both of his and said: 'Yes, oh yes. Michael Jackson!' Not far away, hidden in a clump of bushes and trees, I saw the dark, sinister presence of Soviet tanks." Don't stop til you get enough, vox nova.

  3. here's the quote in its entirety: 'I recall myself and a friend crossing the border into East Berlin before the Wall was torn down. As my friend maneuvered our rented VW to the checkpoint, I pulled back the sunroof and rolled down the windows. Earlier I had cued a tape to play Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror.” As the guard approached, I hit the play button and turned the volume way up. The guard, who was carrying an automatic rifle, asked for our passports. Instead of responding directly, I said over the top of the music: “Do you like Michael Jackson?” He looked nervously at the guard house and then quickly nodded in approval. For a long moment, his face was covered with an unforgettable smile. But more than signaling his approval, the guard had broken military decorum...Similarly, when we returned to the West [from East Germany] through Austria, the guard stationed there responded to my question by first placing his machine gun on the ground. 4. Vox Nova barely ever disappoints. They have literally chased off the token conservatives (one was Feddie who used to blog at RedState) and the more moderate voices over there have left as well. If anyone scores a good point in the comboxes they will NOT approve it.

Feddie put up a post entitled "God Bless America" over there one year during 7/4 weekend and all hell broke loose. The others thought that was totally against the spirit of their project. I think that was when he basically said "screw this" and left.

  5. 'In the YouTube video below, listen to Michael perform “The Man In The Mirror.” Hear his words. Watch the imagery. Reflect how deeply he pleads for each individual to dedicate their lives to the reconciling impulses of Justice and Love. In a world that continues to be much too cold and brittle, Michael Jackson has established himself a much-needed prophet for our age.'

The reason he is much-needed to these people is that no one wants to watch their lame puppet shows.
