The Day That Brian Was There

Or someone. Well, it would meet NBC standards, wouldn't it?

Let this be a warning to us all. Unless we put a stop to this jeez-you-know-my-resume-could-really-use-a-shot-of-testosterone journalism, all we may be left with is this

Well okay then. If we must.

  1. So I guess the alternative to "fake but accurate" is "who cares if they're fake"?

    1. Pauli, you're talking about a graduate of Liberty University, and she's at least the equal of Brian Williams, whose white eye makeup always reminds me of the negative image of a raccoon. Still, further investigative reporting is always in order.

    2. There is just an anchor look. They all look the same to me.

  2. The lovely Ms. Bream has one of the most serious demeanors of any news readers on TV, IMO. We also know nothing about her based on her work, which is the way it ought to be.

I've often wondered why one of the big three on-air networks doesn't follow the lead of Fox and make money by distinguishing its outlook from that of the other two. Seems like it would be picking up money from the ground, as has been said about Fox (by Roger Ailes, IIRC).

    1. In my world, the whole idea of an "anchor" is passé, but that's mainly because the idea of a news show at a fixed time is revolting to me. I take in news on *my* terms when *I* want to, usually my reading or audio.

Having spewed all that, if I every watch the news I choose Fox. It really is the people's network, as in the normal people. I heard that Sarah Palin blasted Fox the other day for not being conservative enough which only make me like Fox more and her less.

I've wondered the same thing. But I think there is a deeply ingrained group-think/Kaelism/devotion to leftism going on.

  3. I see my little joke and the lovely face I chose to illustrate it has distracted even me from my main point.

On the eve of his "saved my life" (from a charging Bengal swamp tiger? from a razor blade traveling upwrist to a Smiths tune? as a parachute in free fall from a Dreamliner? from a case of the grumpies making a proper cassoulet impossible, just impossible?) tour Our Working When Not Dying Boy is blogging gamely and with the most exquisite irony about Brian Williams.

As I mentioned, I had initially pasted up the image of the lovely Mrs. Bream (whom I only know from more than holding her own as Bret Baier's sub) as a visual punchline, but I think the case can be made pretty easily that the right has the edge over the left right now in strong young female voices and personalities, women whose tenacity and professional attention to detail easily meet and exceed any eye candy appeal.

    1. Sorry for being such an old grouch. I'll have to check her out on youtube since I don't have cable.

Well certainly Rachel Maddow has no eye candy appeal at all. MSNBC certainly isn't "picking money off the ground" either. These things are more hand-in-glove than chicken-and-egg.
