Benedict Option? "I think he deserves an answer."
Yes, indeedy.
Happy Independence Day! You, too, marriage!
Is this an example of the Benedict Option? Well, really, why not?

It is definitely an example of the Benedict Option. At least I think it is.
ReplyDeleteLooks like he said "Honey, I'll redo the kitchen if I can have another wife," and she said "OK, but make sure she isn't prettier than me," and he said "Ok," and went out and got someone who looked just like the first one.
It meets every criterion of the Benedict Option. Despite the fact that the BO is explicitly not restricted solely to Christians (Jews not being Christians), Mormon polygamists certainly consider themselves Christians - they put it in the title - even though competing Christian sects like ROCOR might disagree.
DeleteRather than rescue traditional Christians and conservatives from the dark, feral, snarling forces of culture perfectly expressing masculine sexual potency, it seems more poised to launch an internecine culture war within the ranks of those traditional Christians and other conservatives themselves.
Lol re looking just like the first one. That was what struck me, too. They look like identical twins!
DeleteOff-topic for this post, but if you're like me and haven't looked at Amazon reviews of HDCSYL for a while, go read this 2-star one by Rod Anderson. It's excellent: http://tinyurl.com/o4my9gl
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah. Looks like it has a 100% useful rating as well.
DeleteI noticed also that there are a fair number of "publisher overstock" of his prior book (Little Way) being offered for as little as 34 cents. In my mind it is still overpriced.
DeleteLOL, it will be interesting & fun to see how the polygs spin this one out, but I predict it will go nowhere. Please don't say, "it's in the logic of Kennedy's SCOTUS decision." The latter was not based on logic, so no logic can flow from it. The polygs don't have the institutional muscle and money of the LGBTs.
