    It's neoreactionary!!

    ...it’s obvious that the Benedict Option project is a neoreactionary one (I’ve never denied that, and it doesn’t bother me if people call it that).

    Or, said another way:

    What I seek in the Benedict Option is not the recreation of a non-existent Golden Age, but rather a recovery of the metaphysical vision the premodern Christians had, a vision that would give them the resources to resist and repair the kind of fragmentation through which we are living — a fragmentation that, among other things, is leading to the demise of Christianity in the West.

    I am sorry I tried to copy an image from a Rorschach test. because I thought it would show a better picture of what Dreher does. Jonathan Carpenter.

    Dreher couldn't repair the fragmentation of his own family, but only he can repair the fragmentation modernity has wrought on the West and thereby save Christianity. Now I know why those kids pulled his pants down in that hotel room and why the chaperones didn't intervene.

    I thought authors researched first to establish a premise, before writing the book and then editing. I guess that's not how it's done.
