Giant Upset

Prior to the Superbowl, Steve Schrader handed Plaxico Burress the "It's Just Not Patriotic" award:

To N.Y. Giants receiver Plaxico Burress, who had the audacity, the utter gall, to think his team would win today and to actually say it out loud. Why isn't he on the Patriots' bandwagon like everybody else?

Turns out that Burress overestimated the Pariot offensive peformance when he made the 23-17 prediction. Oh, well, we can't all be Jimmy the Greek....

He enjoyed that. This was the play of the game, though.

Hey, how'd they do that?

Now everyone can pretend they saw the whole superbowl. Myself, I just caught the 4th quarter.

  1. The Giants defensive line won that game. If Fr. Pavone wasn't a Giants fan he probably would have been obligated to organize a pro-life intervention or something to save Brady from the sheer brutality of the rush.

I now understand what cultural critics mean when they talk about the feminization of boys after witnessing what the Giants did to Brady.

  2. Right, the D was key, but you can't take away the MVP from Manning. That first TD was choice and that scramble pass to Tyree was the definition of scrapiron.

The NY defense was hungry and although Brady is a top player, I couldn't help being reminded of what happened to Neil O'Donnell when he was first traded from the Steelers to the Jets and lost that strong o-line -- he was too used to taking his time back there and pretty much reported directly to the injured list.
