Talk about your pots and kettles

A truly classic quote from Mark Shea:

Oh, Kmiec forearms himself against rational criticism by cherry-picking the most deranged emails from the bitter conservative wingnuts, interlacing them with the "Gosh! You are so brave and thoughtful!" emails and painting that as the only alternatives we have. It's a clever trick for simple-minded folk, but those of us who can think remain unpersuaded that this really establishes the case for Obama.

I realize everyone is a bit hypocritical when it comes to the way they argue and the way they demand others to argue . . . but man oh man of all the people to talk about false dichotomies, glowing emails and cherry picking quotes.

  1. That's one of my problems with Shea's attacks on traditionalists, he always picks the goofiest stunts the crazy ones pull, then gets out the broad brush for the rest. I could tell three stories about wild-eyed schismatics for every one of his, but it's a cheap way of ignoring all the good points they make. For example, it's mostly trads who want to talk seriously about reorienting toward the altar and I've never heard a good argument against that, never.

Having said that, these Obama nuts are all logic-challenged as well. What can you say? It's puppy love, there is no logic. As my old symbo prof used to say "Once you admit a contradiction into your list of premises, you can prove anything your little ol' heart desires."

  2. LOL, ain't it the truth!!

BTW, Pauli, I see you've got a link to the poll that shows the U.S. has an overwhelmingly positive attitude toward the RCC. So much for "U.S. Catholic Church on Verge of Extinction."

How much you wanna bet that our elfin little friend, you know who, will get his knickers in a twist once again? Five'll get you ten more Catholic-Bashing's in store. That's how the elfin one always reacts when the MSM reports either (a) bad news about the Orthodox or (b) good news about the RCC: Yee-haw! Time to bash the Catholics. :D

You heard it here first! :)
