Flowers and crap

Here is a slideshow of spring flower photos for those of you who are into that sort of thing.

All right, I'll quit trying to sound like an uber-guy; I like flowers, too. The file is big and has music also, use the arrow keys to bump bewteen photos. Hitting ESC will end it.

  1. LOL, Kathleen. That is hysterical!

Well, when I was little, I hated dolls. I liked them only after I'd pulled all the saran-hair off their little heads. Was I weird or what?

I must confess I love flowers. A few weeks ago, all our redbuds and dogwoods were blooming (they're all wild, scattered throughout our woods). The azaleas were starting to bloom. It was wonderful.

Most everything is shot now, except the azaleas, which are looking a tad peaked. Oh well. All the lush green is good, too. It's all good. :-)

  2. Speaking of which: Off-topic...but just wanted to say that I have made up with Mark Shea, I have apologized to him for the truly nasty things I said to and about him, and I want to try my best to avoid saying nasty things to or about anyone in the future. Which may limit my Internet activity to two minutes per day (just to post about flowers :D), but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I apologize to Rod Dreher, too.

  3. A commenter named Daniel Conway just posted this over at Shea's latest piece in his ongoing argument (his word) with Dreher:

Ritual purity from untouchably sinful clerics is not a Catholic/ecclesial tradition, however. Such Puritanical concerns are truly an American issue, and not a virtue. This need for ritual purity and scrupulous attempts not to pollute oneself with acquaintances of "unsavory types" (like American bishops) is really the heart of Mr. Dreher's difficulties.

I think that's insightful. A lot of people don't realize that puritanism isn't a "conservative" thing but has liberal and conservative manifestations in modern day America. Dreher is an example of the liberal media version of the disorder with his own paleo-conservative puritan twist of lemon.

  4. I love flowers, but I can't see the slideshow because the site wants me to log in and I don't have an account. Oh, well, maybe I'll sign up this evening.

Diane, I'm going to follow your example and end my grudge against Shea as well. I usually agree with him on things, anyway. There are just certain subjects where I will have to agree to disagree. I won't go so far as to say I won't say nasty things about anyone. I will just make sure the target is really deserving of my disdain. ;-)

And Pauli, thank you for linking to my Live 365 radio station on the Stinging Rain site! :-) I will be posting about the updates to the playlist soon.

    Sorry for going off-topic.

  5. Yeah, I was listening to it the other night and heard Mighty Tree. Cool beans! thanks.

We weren't sure we should have left about 2+ minutes of layered guitar noise at the end of that track, but our producer said "hey, man, reminds me of Hendrix's "3rd Stone from the Sun". So we left it in.
