TAC publisher's Anonymous pet given 63 months, $890,000 in restitution

Barrett Brown, the Anonymous spokesman who threatened the family of FBI agent Robert Smith, has just been sentenced to 63 months in prison and ordered to pay $890,000 in restitution.

Championing Brown over the last two years (see further "Free Barrett Brown" links there if interested) has proved a click bonanza from young supporters of Brown for Wick Allison, publisher of The American Conservative.

The full details of Brown's relationship with Anonymous and its assaults on Stratfor and other organizations is widely available on the internet. Below is the link to an NSFW F-bomb-filled Part Three of Brown's threats against Agent Smith.

Even though a punk is involved, there's no music, so I decided not to embed it.

UPDATE (as they say): More what-can-you-do-for-me-today? journalism

  1. Other than conveying that the writer (and the publication) support Barrett Brown, that piece linked to in the UPDATE has about the poorest yield of information per hundred words that one could find.

    1. Yes; that epitomizes TL; DR.

But definitely check out the youtube where Brown makes the threat. It is a textbook manic episode, the kind of thing that you should never record let alone publish.

It reminds me of an incident where my friend's father insisted on having a "performance" at his birthday party recorded. He was doing amateur comedy, singing, hugging and kissing audience members, etc. It was basically an hour long manic episode. We listened to it later and were amazed by how crazy it was. Parts of it were almost incoherent, parts were grandiose, some parts could hardly be understood for his laughing and giggling. Later he was diagnosed formerly with bi-polar disorder. This guy is nuts, whatever else he is, and he needs help. In addition to jail-time.

    2. I see what you mean. Yes, I agree he's nuts and needs help.

Wick and D Magazine ought to watch what sort of stars they hitch their wagons to.

P.S. As I have told my truther buddy, if you want people to believe what you are saying, you need to persuade them, not insult them for being dupes and sheep if they don't immediately agree with you.
