David Corn (huh-huh) get flushed

A friend in Pittsburgh, married now, related to me the story of how he received a phone call from another bachelor while viewing B&B on 7/15/1994. "Are you seeing this? Are you seeing this!?" his friend frenetically inquired. That was the Cornholio episode. It was pretty funny, I admit.

So people of a certain age might remember where they were when they first experienced Cornholio's "birth". I will remember where I was, driving through Fairview Park, Ohio on February 23, 2015, when I heard the complete dismantling of David Corn's credibility by Hugh Hewitt.

Hugh Hewitt irritates me on many occasions but he is a master at what he does. He is basically a photographer of sorts; he is really good at showing what is there. Once Corn gets flustered he is toast. Flustered, flummoxed, flushed.

Columbus Ohio Salem Station is *LIVE*

Great news! Now Kathleen can't complain they don't have a good conservative talk station in Columbus.

Salem Communications is adding another NewsTalk radio station to its stable of talk stations around the country beginning 11/1. 98.9 FM The Answer is now born in Columbus, Ohio — the 34th largest market, with the LMA of WJKR-FM (Adult Hits/Hot AC) Jack-FM) from Radio One Licenses. The new talker will be the 25th NewsTalk radio station owned by Salem.

“Salem has enjoyed a fantastic relationship with the Columbus community. We’re excited to deepen our connection in this market with our acquisition of a strong FM signal where listeners can be informed by our faculty of nationally syndicated hosts,” said Dave Santrella, President of Salem’s Radio division.

“I can’t think of a better time to launch a NewsTalk station than right now, in Ohio the biggest of all battleground states,” said Tom Heyl, General Manager for Columbus. “Columbus is ready for a contemporary NewsTalk radio station relevant to today’s culture.”

“This will be the 5th ‘Answer’ station we have launched at Salem, along with New York, Los Angeles, Riverside and Dallas,” said Phil Boyce Salem’s VP/Director, Spoken Word Format. “Salem continues to be a leader in the NewsTalk format, and this new station will be the first FM NewsTalk station in the company fold. The Answer imaging voiced by legendary Lonnie Perkins will sound great coming out of an FM speaker.”

The station will feature the Salem staple lineup of Bill Bennett’s Morning In America 6-9am, Mike Gallagher 9am to Noon, Dennis Prager Noon to 3pm, Michael Medved 3pm to 6pm, Hugh Hewitt 6 to 9pm, Dial Global’s Dennis Miller 9pm to midnight with Compass Media’s Lars Larson Midnight to 3am.

And it's on the FM dial. Who'd have thunk it? "No static at all."

Hugh Hewitt on the Inadvertant Colbertiness of the MSM

Great piece. Hewitt--who is about as center-right as they come--has been an ardent supporter of the Tea Party Patriots, and that fact should put the lie to the smear that the Tea Partiers are a frothing mob of inbred Birchers. I loved the line "They are all Dan Rathers now, except that Dan Rather may, just possibly, get it."

The attention being paid to the cranks and the nuts serves a political purpose of the mere far left, however, so it will continue. This is part of the effort to delegitimize and marginalize the exploding anti-growth-of-government movement. This deeply-felt concern over the viral expansion of the public sector is what has driven the Tea Party Movement, and it is also what will power the pummeling Democrats will receive at the polls in the fall.

In the blink of an eye, just as the federal government was swallowing whole the American health care system, it burped and then tossed down the student loan business. This follows the digestion of most of the American car business and the $800 billion "stimulus" that wasn't. Jabba-the-Fed is feeding.

Americans are stunned by the rapacity of the Democrats. The vast, vast majority of the objectors are mainstream and often previously apolitical Americans. Many are long time conservative activists. A handful of nuts have infiltrated their numbers, and the usual media suspects choose to focus on the crazies and not the millions. Many of these MSMers fretting over the rise of the fanatics use the term "Tea Baggers," which is itself an assault on civil discourse. Or they sneer at rallies which require actual commitment of time and resources, or at hand-made signs that suggest a familiarity with the Federalist Papers. They find red-white-and-blue clothing amusing. Then they turn to cluck at how standards of debate have declined in the House. Very amusing.

And just fine. This is the age in which extraordinary levels of media sophistication on the part of media consumers have stripped the MSM of influence. Old media trees are falling in old media forests, and no one hears a sound. The highly paid anchors are being mocked by those viewers who even bother to tune in. The big names seem wholly unaware of the joke. They are all Dan Rathers now, except that Dan Rather may, just possibly, get it.

Chopra and the Green-eyed Monster

Hugh Hewitt pegs Deepak Chopra as a typical leftist without very much to offer except sneers of hatred directed toward Christianity.

Chopra’s rage against mainstream Christianity may have its roots in nothing more complicated than a simple though vast jealousy at Warren’s enormous success, and not just success in selling books but in attracting tens of thousands of pastors and their congregations to a revitalized Christian faith in the new millennium.

Warren’s call, heeded by millions of American Christians, to lead faith-filled lives, to give sacrificially and to work for the alleviation of suffering across the planet has been the focus of astonished applause by intelligent observers across the political spectrum.

Warren’s church and the millions of American Christians who hold similar beliefs and practice similar disciplines model authentic and traditional Christian belief. There isn’t much to hate there, but Chopra and others on the Left want to try to transform mainstream Christian belief in traditional marriage into a postmodern scarlet letter, and they will use the tactics of extremist hate if they have to.

We are not “long past irony” here, just face to face with the unpleasant reality of the Left’s genuine agenda of silencing its opponents.

I'm an Occam's Razor kind of guy, so I agree with Hewitt that most likely it's Rick Warren's success that irks Chopra more than anything. So why doesn't he become a Christian? Then he can make lots more money selling books to American Christians and go to Heaven someday. Oops, that was probably really insensitive of me to say. Sorry.

Hugh Hewitt's Interview with Jonah Goldberg

Thanks to Cubeland Mystic for sending me these links.

Here's the first part.

Here's the second part.

During the second clip we get to hear Michelle Obama's secular messianic totalitarian pitch and Jonah's reaction.

It's spooky. I don't want her to shut up, though, because this is what the Obama's campaign is really about. Not America's "hope", but their hope that no one notices the invisible power fist.
