David Corn (huh-huh) get flushed

A friend in Pittsburgh, married now, related to me the story of how he received a phone call from another bachelor while viewing B&B on 7/15/1994. "Are you seeing this? Are you seeing this!?" his friend frenetically inquired. That was the Cornholio episode. It was pretty funny, I admit.

So people of a certain age might remember where they were when they first experienced Cornholio's "birth". I will remember where I was, driving through Fairview Park, Ohio on February 23, 2015, when I heard the complete dismantling of David Corn's credibility by Hugh Hewitt.

Hugh Hewitt irritates me on many occasions but he is a master at what he does. He is basically a photographer of sorts; he is really good at showing what is there. Once Corn gets flustered he is toast. Flustered, flummoxed, flushed.

Open Comment Thread (2014-12)

There are some weaknesses to my Open Line Post feature which I started recently to accommodate anything "off-topic". The comments aren't individually linkable and there can't be any label tags, and these cripple the usefulness of such a comment thread.

So here's my solution. I'm going to put up a new post for Open Comments on the first of every month. All the other Open Comment Threads will remain accessible, but the current one will be linked to the picture in the right side-bar. This is the first one—have at it!

New Open Comment Thread

I just added a new feature to the blog here, and I'm hoping people will find it useful. If no one does, I'll go out in the woods and throw rocks at small, innocent animals.

No, seriously, in the spirit of "Open Line Friday", I created an Open Comments Page where people can go any time and leave a comment about anything they'd like to see covered here, or to vent, or to exercise their First Amendment rights, etc. You get the idea.

To the purpose of making it as easy as possible to access this wonderful invention, I have posted this cute little picture over in the right-hand column so it is easy to access from the home page or any page of this blog. As you might imagine, I am thoroughly impressed by my own genius.

At this point, it may be a good idea to review our de facto commenting policy here at Est Quod Est as stated five years ago:

Don’t use threatening language toward other commenters or their expensive pets. Not responsible for suicides. Please bring your own ropes and petards.

I'm fascinated with this

I always felt bad for the angel dude in the painting. He's thinking "Man, I worked so hard on the rhombohedron then they come along and say 'Oh, we just want two small tetrahedra, thanks' so I end up doing a double truncation and now I'm left with whatever this thing is."

So 500 years later we should celebrate the fact that someone decided to turn Dürer's useless lump into an awesome paperweight.

These reflections are probably at least somewhat rooted in my recent viewing of the most triumphant film Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

We are so there

It's Tuesday. It's been one of those days. I have five kids under 10 years of age. Kids eat free at Bearden's on Tuesdays. Orders at the counter equals no waitresses, no tips. Ergo, we are so there.

Mustang Sally, baby.

Ironic and Coincidental

What do you think I got for Father's Day? Ironically my wife got me the Sh*t My Dad Says book, which is funny because as I mentioned earlier the subject of the book is so anti-Father's Day. It came out last year, but who cares. You're always behind when you have five kids.

Also received awesome homemade cards. Homemade cards on Father's Day mean I didn't have to pay for store bought F-day cards with stale aphorisms, the definition of loser. Instead I got penguins and Pokemons on my cards with secret codes which had to be explained to me. Definition of awesome.

Plus we went to Panera and ate out on the patio which is like the top thing to me right now after that ridiculous winter.
