The news organization Daily Signal contacted several companies on the list asking about their purported donations to Planned Parenthood in light of videos revealing the organization’s harvesting of fetal organs. Representatives from Xerox, Ford, and Coca-Cola deserted the abortion giant, saying they were “incorrectly listed as donors… They said their companies do not contribute to Planned Parenthood and do not match employee gifts to the organization. All three said they have contacted or will contact Planned Parenthood to be removed from its website.”

 Maybe I'll call Microsoft later to see if they're like Coke in more ways than one.

Broken Home? Check...

The first guess I make when I hear about a mass-murder is that the shooter is from a broken home. I'm not always right, but more often than not; it turns out I'm right in Dylann Roof's case.

The man suspected of fatally shooting nine people at a church in Charleston, South Carolina on Wednesday, was given a gun by his father as a 21st birthday present in April, his uncle told Reuters on Thursday.

Law enforcement officers were at the home of Dylann Roof’s mother on Thursday morning, the uncle, Carson Cowles, said in an interview.

WSJ confirms.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... you ditched your wife and your kid(s) turned out fine? No thanks to you, buddy.

Here's the petition asking Bill DeBlasio to resign as Mayor. I don't see why you have to be from New York to sign it. As long as you believe in the restoration of order you should want this man to step down and go teach at a university or do basket-weaving seminars.

Targeted Condemnations Wanted

Dennis Prager wants more condemnations with specified targets in the vein of Pope Francis's condemnation of the Mafia. Excerpt:

It is not enough for Muslim leaders to issue routine condemnations of violence and terrorism. Without specifying the Muslims who are the world’s premier practitioners of murder in God’s name, these condemnations of violence and terror are worthless.

Muslim religious leaders — from Al-Azhar in Cairo to local imams throughout the world – need to say exactly what Pope Francis said to the Catholic members of the Mafia: “Any Muslim who commits an act of terror — that is, deliberately murders civilians of any nationality or religion — goes to hell.”

This would be particularly effective given how many Muslim terrorists have been convinced by some religious leaders that blowing up, shooting, or slitting the throats of men, women and children guarantees that they will go straight to heaven (where, moreover, they will be attended to by dozens of virgin women).

Condemnations of actions in general mean nothing. Only when the perpetrators are specified and their actions are specified is there hope of having a moral impact. Pope Francis specified exactly whom he was addressing and for what sins.

Don't hold your breath, Dennis. Muslims fall mainly into two camps: violent murderers and moral cowards.

Last week CBS Devoted Just 13 Seconds to Gosnell Trial; ABC, NBC Ignore It altogether. ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today on Wednesday failed to cover any developments in the case. Neither broadcast network has aired one second of reporting on the Gosnell trial on their morning and evening newscasts. See:

You can't make this up

What an amazing story. Let me tell it "Pauli-style".

There are a bunch of really scary people out there. They are called "Islamophobes". They actually think that those nice Muslim people are a bunch of wife-beaters or even killers. Can you believe that?

So along comes an investment banker named Muzzammil Hassan. He is living the American dream, living in upstate New York and rolling in the dough. All those horrible Islamophobes are probably jealous of his success in business. And good old Mr. Hassan, prompted by his lovely wife, decides to help set the record straight on Muslims by starting a television network....

Bridges TV, a pioneering television network that seeks to challenge stereotypes of Muslims and create understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims.

Now, sadly, Verizon has decided to drop Bridges TV. Maybe it's because those vicious Islamophobic Americans threatened them. I'll bet that's it! Or... maybe it's because...

Last year, [Muzzammil] Hassan was convicted of murdering and beheading his wife in 2009, six days after she had filed for divorce.

During the trial, Hassan claimed he was a battered spouse and the victim of rumors spread by his estranged wife. Jurors, however, convicted him in less than an hour; a judge sentenced him to 25 years to life in prison.

Either way, it is very sad that this happened since it will only serve to reinforce negative stereotypes about Islam and Muslims. Perhaps the jury was Islamophobic and did not understand Mr. Hassan's customs and traditions.

A Deadly Sham

Some people will do anything for money. There are hookers, pimps, Nigerian scam artists, Solyndra, etc. Then there are people who've figured out how to get women to abort babies via testing. Here are two good paragraphs:

What’s more is that, for all the talk of prenatal testing being only the sharing of information and not requiring abortion, test developers nonetheless count on most mothers terminating. They have to in order to justify the unnecessary costs of their testing. Over 99 percent of pregnant women are not carrying a child with Down syndrome. While a negative prenatal test may provide welcomed reassurance, from a dollars-and-cents perspective, it is an unnecessary expense. Developers of prenatal testing, however, have justified these unnecessary expenses by demonstrating through cost-effectiveness studies that such costs can be offset to the private insurer or the public healthcare system, provided that enough children prenatally identified with Down syndrome are terminated. In this way, prenatal testing is promoted as “saving” the health care system the added medical costs associated with Down syndrome. For all their public defenses, test developers nevertheless rely on a high percentage of abortions to justify the cost of their testing.

But the regime of prenatal testing for Down syndrome is exposed for the sham that it is when the double standard within prenatal testing is considered. In 2007, the same year that the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommended that all women be offered testing for Down syndrome, ACOG’s ethics committee issued an opinion finding that prenatal testing for sex selection was unethical. The same arguments for prenatal testing for Down syndrome can be made for prenatal testing for sex selection. Sharing the information about the sex of the child is simply respecting a woman’s right to choose by giving her information she can use to determine whether to continue her pregnancy. But, in the same year that ACOG said all women should be offered testing for Down syndrome, it also said it is unethical to use prenatal testing for sex selection because it enforces sexist opinions that one sex is more desirable or valuable to society or a family than another. The ACOG committees that worked on the contrasting statements failed to appreciate the doublespeak, since prenatal testing for Down syndrome reinforces discriminatory attitudes against those considered to have disabilities. Upon seeing a baby girl, strangers do not ask “why didn’t her parents undergo prenatal testing,” but that question is asked of parents when that little girl happens to have Down syndrome.

...but read the whole thing. Really shows the anatomy of an abortion industry boondoggle. I just heard about this on Hugh Hewitt's show, but it's half a year old.

Oh, here's another good one to add to my small heap from the other night.

Q: Ted Kennedy, OJ Simpson, Heidi Fleiss, and John Wayne Bobbit are playing golf together. Who wins?

A: None of them. O.J. slices, Heidi hooks, Bobbit has no putter, and Ted Kennedy can't drive over water.

Sick and Senseless

Store owner Mike Dayem was murdered a block from our old house by an neighborhood waste-case with multiple priors named Bobby King who wanted to buy alcohol a week ago Sunday. So basically Mike paid the ultimate price for courageously upholding the law.

I used to chat with this guy, he was really friendly. You could tell he was a good man. We used to run over to the store to get a bottle of hot sauce or beer or bread. I bought a great phone card from him back in the dial-up modem days of 1999 when he had just opened the store.

He put up with a lot of crap. The drug peddling idiots used to hang out in his parking lot, riding their little sisters' 20-inch bikes around, waiting for clientele coming off I-71 or I-480. A lot of the stores in that neighborhood were what I call "front operations", and we'd rejoice every time we heard they went out of business or lost their liquor license which happened fairly regularly. But under Mike's ownership, JJ's was a legitimate business. You could just tell.

This is utterly tragic and I pray for Mike and his family. Secondarily, I hope the business remains in or falls into good hands to prevent the further disintegration of the West 130th neighborhood. Last but not least, I hope Bobby King gets a life sentence for this horrible, brutal and senseless crime.
